One needs an adjuster’s license to work as an adjuster in Florida. Currently, there are two types, the 6-20 All-Lines license and the 3-20 Public Adjusters license. People desiring either license type usually begin by getting their 6-20 license.

Success on the path toward the Claims Adjusting Industry

You begin your career path by completing our 40-hour online 6-20 All Lines Accredited Claims Adjuster Designation course (INS013FL40). Work at your own pace with your instructor, who is available by email or the online forums. Complete the 40 hours course entirely online, and this course EXEMPTS YOU FROM THE STATE EXAM! This course complies with the State’s requirements for the Accredited Claims Adjuster Designation offered in partnership with a Florida College. Once completed, you will have satisfied the FLDFS’ Pre-Licensing course requirement to apply for your license. 

Steps on the Path to Success: 

1. Complete and pass our online 6-20 Accredited Claims Adjuster Designation course. To aid in your study, you may purchase the recommended Florida Property & Casualty Insurance Licensing Study Manual from the OLT Bookstore. Please choose from one of our partner colleges or resellers from whom to take our course, or buy it directly from OLT. You must apply for your 6-20 license within one year of your application to the FLDFS and within four years of your course completion date. 
2. Passing this course waives the State Exam
3. Apply for and receive the 6-20 license by:

• Setting up a MyProfile Account with the Florida Department of Financial Services (FLDFS).
• having OnLine Training report your completion to the FLDFS and email you your Certificate of Completion
• Applying and pay fees to FLDFS 
• Getting fingerprinted with the approved vendor 

1. Once you have completed all steps satisfactorily, the FLDFS will email your approval.
2. Go to your MyProfile account and print your license
3. Get hired as a licensed and appointed 6-20 Accredited Claims Adjuster in one of three areas:

• Company/Employee Adjuster
• Independent Adjuster
• Public Adjuster Apprentice (if you plan to later apply for a 3-20 Public Adjuster)
